Initially, Niantic the developer of the smash-hit augmented reality game Pokemon Go, is now reported to be working on its own wearable device. This is the reason why the game’s launch on Apple Watch has been delayed. When launching Watch Series 2, Apple had announced that Pokemon Go would soon be coming to the wearable device. However, it was reported a few days ago that developer Niantic may hold its plans to launch the game on Apple Watch a bit further. As reported by 9to5Mac website, Niantic is currently focusing on another augmented reality game called Ingress.
The company is planning to launch a wearable device for the title as early as January 2017. The wearable, likely to be called Nex+ Ingress Band, is also shown in an image. From the looks of it, it appears similar to the Nex Band Evolution that went on pre-order earlier this year. It has been mentioned that the Nex band comes with five touch-sensitive displays, each denoted with a different color LED and customized notifications.
The report further adds that there may be a Pokemon Go version of the band. The company has already assured fans via a tweet that it would bring the game to Apple Watch at some point. The question, however, is exactly when the title would be launched. Pokemon Go officially launched in India a few days back. The game is available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. In the game, players are directed to nearby shops or temples (called ‘PokeStops’ or ‘Gyms’). In partnership with Reliance Jio, the company’s digital stores will appear in the game as PokeStops and Gyms. With over 500 million downloads globally, Pokemon Go has become a worldwide phenomenon ever since it was launched. The game requires the players to move around to hunt Pokemon, using the smartphone’s’ GPS to track, capture, battle and train the characters.
